As an experienced private criminal defense attorney (16 + years in Lancaster County), with a forensic science background (10 + years), I know the ins and outs of the Criminal Justice System. I know how to negotiate most effectively with the opposition and if necessary, take the case to a jury trial. Most importantly, I will personally handle your case from the preliminary hearing level to jury verdict, if necessary.
1. Dropped Charges: In many instances, I can have your case dropped before charges are even filed. For best results, contact our office as soon as you believe you are a suspect in a crime and/or the subject or target of a criminal investigation.
2. Reduced Charges: I can negotiate with the prosecutor for drastically reduced charges. Of Course, having years experience practicing as a criminal defense attorney in Lancaster County, negotiating on your behalf will always benefit you.
3. Jury TrialL: Factors such as inadmissible evidence, improper procedure, lack of probable cause, illegal arrest/detention, unlawful search and seizure, or other crucial factors exist I will file a Pre-Trial Motion to Suppress. If successful the case will be dismissed, or the prosecutor's evidence will be inadmissible during trial. I am jury trial experienced and will not be be intimidated to argue your case before a jury. With the understanding that preparation is the mother of skill, I ensure you that all my skills will be used while seeking a "Not Guilty" verdict.
4. Sentence Mitigation: In the event of a guilty plea or conviction, I shall seek mitigating sentencing and penalties, persuading the court for more lenient punishment and jail alternatives such as community service, drug/alcohol treatment, house arrest, work release, weekend incarceration, probation in lieu of jail, etc.
What Will I Do To Fight For Your Rights?
1. In most cases, provide you with an initial consultation and criminal case evaluation. I listen to what did and did not happen, ask pertinent questions, and assess the potential strength and/or weaknesses of the case against you. I will advise you on what actions to take, what not to do, what not to say, who you should and should not speak with, how to protect yourself going forward, and identify potential strategies upon review of the police complaint, witness statements, and any other documented evidence regarding your case.
2. Obtain and review police complaints filed with the Magisterial District Judges Office pertaining to your arrest or criminal investigation.
3. Prepare a list of all potential witnesses and statements concerning your case. Interview and question all parties concerned.
4. Visit the crime scene or the place of arrest, with the intent on obtaining contradictory or conflicting evidence/photographs to witness statements or evidence cited in the police complaint / discovery material.
5. Obtain a criminal background check of all witnesses and parties involved in your case, with the possibility of discrediting statements to undercut credibility during cross examination.
6. When necessary, hire a private investigator, to prove or disprove facts of your case. Employ an independent laboratory to test, document, and provide expert reports and/or testify as to the reliability of evidence related to your case. If applicable, hire a defense polygraph examiner.
7. Review the chain of events leading up to your arrest, to ensure proper adherence to detention procedure. Additionally, evaluate the chain of custody in the collection and preservation of physical evidence, instrument maintenance records / calibration, lack of Probable Cause, Illegal Search and Seizure, and other important factors to potentially find you Not Guilty as charged.
